Bildwissenschaft. A Discipline in Construction

Abstract

In their study Einführung in die Bildwissenschaft, Gustav Frank and Barbara Lange present the étatde la question of the Bildwissenschaft, a discipline whose ongoing construction has been enriched by theses and suggestions stemming from different stances and in response to a variety of questionings. The book sets forth considerations on historiographic discourse about Bildwissenschaft,indispensable for the study of images that traditionally have not been considered artistic. Written and constructed from the study of diverse cultural exemplars, the book brings together theory and research, in an articulation that proves to be extremely comprehensible, and will certainly be of great utility when studying culture and images.
