Abstract
Independent theater emerged in Buenos Aires at the beginning of the 1930's. Among its antecedents, the literary polemic between Boedo and Florida can be found; opposing groups in which intellectuals respectively, sought an “art for the revolution” or “the revolution for art”. The playwright, José González Castillo, created the Peña Pacha Camac. Through the analysis of original documenta-tion, I will review the materialization of the Peña, its institutional conformation, and the constitution of its theater group.
